Student loans, taxes and medical bills CANNOT be discharged through bankruptcy. In years past they were, but not any more.

In fact, Bush had the bankruptcy law recently changed again so that Chapter 7 (what most personal filings are) became much harder to qualify for (they are structured more like the old chap. 11) and the requirements are more stringent as to what and how your debts will/or if they will be discharged.

At any rate, I don't think I would be able to sleep at night if I had ANY debt beyond a few thousand dollars. Debt is a terrible thing to have.

80K is INSANE!!!!! He must feel like an indentured servant with that loan and his paltry wages.
