I've flown to SFO with new hire FOs a few times recently on their first ever SFO layover and en route they tell me how all their captains have told them what a terrible ****hole the city is and how it's overran with homeless people. And I'm like ehh it's really not that bad dude. Then in the van driving through SF they point out every homeless person with glee saying "wow so many homeless!!" "What a liberal ****hole!"
It's really embarrassing.
I’ve had the same thing with some captains, and then it turns out they never even left the hotel the entire 24 hour layover..
Add to that I commute from a city that’s been the Fox News flavor of the month lately.. nothing like just meeting a crew member for the first time and they immediately talk down about my own home. It’s rude and lacks social skills or awareness.
