SFO isn't bad at all. Right next to Chinatown which is clean and no homeless people. The bakeries are amazing and you can still find old achool buns both sweet and salty for $1.50. That's less than half of what you'd pay at the chain stores like 85 Degrees, Sweet Hut, or Paris Baguette. Or head 5 minutes down the street to 54 Mint for some amazing Italian food.
Agree with the Downtown LA hotel, it needs to go. I used to live in LA and even locals avoid that area. Redondo is amazing, Hollywood one is mid at best but is close to Pizzeria da Michele which is probably the best Neapolitan pizza you'll find in the US.
I actually love the Brickell hotel and don't mind FLL. Lots of places to eat on Las Olas or grab a quick bite at the Top Hat Deli if you're in a rush. Pretty short walk to the riverwalk as well. It helps that my main activity on layovers is eating and going for walks. Or I've just gotten used to it as a junior ER pilot.
Speaking of which, how about that AE? If you're junior to me the ER is amazing and has the best variety in the system. If you're senior to me it sucks, all it does is Florida shuttle and former Maddog trips. 4 legs a day and 200 screaming kids to see the mouse in MCO
