Yes, SF smells of weed and you have to look down when walking. That part sucks. The food and drink options are decent though. Just don't park a car on the street. Guy at the Owl told me his was busted into 4 times in the last 6 months.

Union square is a ghost of its former self. As is most the city save for a few enclaves.
