It's not 0 FOs. It's 16 upgrades, which means they get replaced with 16 FOs. The new hire class will have 16 if all show up.
The company is adding 16 slots to the seniority list. 16 folks are going to upgrade, prompting a cascade of movement on both the CA and FO side. The 16 newhires will get what remains unfilled.. Net changes is +16 for the company, +16 CAs, + 0 FOs.
Have heard a mix of rumors of 30 for July and up to 50 for July. We'll know once they craft the August sim schedule.
It isn't that we don't know how it works, but we have been seeing 20-60 a month FO side for the last 2-3 years with few CA vacancies. It used to be like 8 CA vacancies and 50 FOs. Now it is 15+ CAs and few FOs. They are also doing these upgrades too late... They have so few CA reserves and everyone's flying, our recovery options and delay issues are mainly attributed to how "overstaffed" /s we are.
