Twice I've known low-time first officers to attempt to follow an errant flight director indication; once off the end of runway 33 in Anchorage, and the other in Bogota; in both circumstances, the flight director gave a full fly-down indication as the aircraft passed the departure end of the runway, and the first officer, as pilot flying, attempted to follow the flight director.
They say trust, but verify. I don't trust.
Just verify.
No idea about the SWA flight. Wasn't there, not enough information.
