NOTAM news

Now available in ForeFlight, with the MAP page selected, use the drop down menu in the upper left to select the NOTAM layer. Flight inspection NOTAMs will be graphically displayed on the MAP with the text box providing more detailed information if 'Flight Check' is scheduled to be in the area of your pilot-controlled airport. The text would read such as:

"06/008 - AIRSPACE FLTCK ACFT OPS WI AN AREA DEFINED AS 5NM RADIUS OF M19 SFC-3500FT AGL ACFT CS FLC71. 17 JUN 14:30 2024 UNTIL 17 JUN 22:00 2024 ESTIMATED. CREATED: 17 JUN 14:05 2024"

At controlled airfields, the ATCT is still responsible for any NOTAMs informing of flight inspection operations being conducted in the vicinity.

We hope this will help inform the general public of operations that may be different from regular operations. It is a wide window, and operations change regularly (notice they put the callsign of the flight check aircraft ie; well this might change, but we do have ways of trying to update these NOTAMs fairly easily), but some awareness we hope will be better than nothing.
