I agree just a little bit. But for the most part the public cares very little and influences even less. The public doesn't call their congress reps on our behalf, that's just not happening.
The public that does consciously support us, I would guess are blue collar union demographic. The coastal elites probably think we're over-paid knuckle-draggers anyway. If they think about us at all.
Where the public comes into play is if management is worried that the customers are concerned that the pilots aren't getting treated right, impacting safety. That's what pickets, billboards, etc get after.
