Not trying to hjijack your question here but the common thread I've seen and had PI buddies talk to me about all have a common thread. They don't prepare. Read and study the profiles for each session and study the relevant FM/FOM/WOM sections. Read the normals (Ch 3 in our FMs). Don't just rely on gouge and the cheat sheets that the FTI's hand out. Our Instructors will go to the end of the earth for you if you are prepared and engaged. They know you don't know everything, they know you're gonna screw some stuff up. That's ok. If you've prepared you will know how to ask relevant questions to clear up all that stuff. It's all a very gentleperson program, especially if you do the preparation for each session. You'll know what you know and know what you need help on.
