The preliminary vacancy bid is out. ALPA will have a better analysis out in a week but what I see is there were 30 upgrade awards, no forced upgrades, and lots of base transfers. The bottom 30 are FOs in training who had an ORD status and were awarded DFW, PHX, or MIA. It appears that the push for DECs is gone along with the bonus and most new hires will spend a month or two in ORD before being able to transfer to another base.
The last vacancy award 3 months ago had 55 upgrade awards and a lot more openings in general. This tells me that training has slowed down but not stopped completely. This is normal considering that attrition has almost completely stopped. The good thing is we have gotten a lot of used and new aircraft and we're barely halfway through the year. We're also short on reserves in DFW. Hopefully that means Envoy will continue to hire even if it's slowed down for the summer.
