I am also guessing that he is "management material" but had already poisoned the waters at SWA and wanted a fresh start. Bob was about as inspirational as a wet sock, but I will always admire him for quitting the VP gig when he did. I doubt this has anything to do with an impending merger, as Bob was thrown out of the cool kids club when he resigned.
Why any line pilot would ever what to work in the management pit of vipers is beyond me, but I am glad some do I guess. I would 10 times much rather pull a BG and fly 330 TFP in June and out-earn all of them with the exception of maybe the top 5 in the exec washroom. To each their own, though.
Thanks for the perspective for a Sunny guy. Jumped over here to see if anyone was discussing this as I read some rough stuff about him on the internet machine. This gives me an open mind. Sounds like, perhaps, he went down a rabbit hole and met Alice. I've been there. No good way out but to punch out.
I'd be a straight fwd gig for himhere at SY as he's not replacing Eisenhower. If he comes onboard and brings us up to AQP by definition vice name only, well, we'll all dance at his wedding. It's not a high bar.....
Cheers fellow 73 dudes. Y'all ever get sick of pax, FAs, and all that money you make, come look us up. Flying packages for Bezos ain't too bad. Every plane has a pinup of Lauren.
