330s are gone. Management has trouble handling the 737 training department already and will switch to a 2 fleet 787 and 737 in no time. On a personal note, I would rather take the dreamliner over an old 330 but who cares what I think. Sadly, lot of old timers here who are counting down on retirement won't even get a chance to fly the 78 and lot of other folks like me are comfortable where we are at. A 2 year seat lock and being on reserve or a **** line on the 78 is something many of us do NOT want. I suspect a lot of new hires will not have fun being on reserve forever with a WB. Time will tell.
It will take YEARS to get enough airplanes to replace the 330s and 717s and that's not even accounting for any growth. I don't see any aircraft going away for at least 3 years. At that point they may start talking about a 717 replacement, but as someone said those aircraft are mostly paid for so I don't see it happening until it becomes economically beneficial.
