The most frustrating part of it is that the company was not hiding their plans. Some of the plans are what they are. If the company wants to move freight to a truck I don't see that we have a lot of recourse. That being said, much of the air freight that is being outsourced could have been protected and the former MEC and NC knew it but wanted us to believe that losing jobs wasn't a threat. The wolf was at the door and yet there was no effort made to fortify the entry much less an acknowledgement that the danger existed despite an abundance of evidence to the contrary. The MEC and NC were well aware of the comments being made by senior leadership on earnings calls, and yet, they tried desprately to hide that from the pilots they were paid to represent. I wish I had a count of how many times I was told that "Scope didn't poll high enough" and responses from the former MEC failing to acknowledge that retirement is worthless if you don't have a job to perform until you retire. The task to address Sec. 1 deficiencies is more daunting now that pandora is out of the box. The blame here lies squarely at the feet of the former MEC and the former NC. The company does what it does and it was ALPA's job to protect us and protect our seat at the table. The USPS contract was going away with or without a TA, how much more of our flying will be outsourced due to the former MEC/NC's negligence?

Those who voted "YES" for one issue and one issue alone are simply full of greed at this point if they can't see the other side's point of view after the events of the last 12 months. A retirement increase is deserved and has been earned but we MUST codify the protection of our jobs and our role in the corporation's future.
