Sailing is correct. We'd fill all of our classes with former mil/guard/reserve if we could. They have choices though, so we make up the slack with those candidates with solid prior/past performance indicators.
Maybe back when Plato ( or however you spell his name) was running hiring and only wanted to hire his squadron buddies…but that has not been true for a long time. we have had the ability to do this for awhile and didn’t. In the 15 years prior to Covid, we consistently had a 50/50 civ/ mil split, they could have gone 100% mil if they wanted to during that time.
considering both the VP and SVP of flight ops are not military pilots, I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
