I was hired in '91 when the VAST majority of pilots at this company were former military (I am not). Rumor was they wanted to expand the hiring pool to include pilots that did not have guard/reserve commitments and would not be taking mil leave.
As a reserve guy I’m fully aware how annoying we probably are to management. Everyone here is a good pilot. I’m sure it’s super annoying for crew scheduling and crew planning when guys are like “yeah I’m gonna drop mil leave until second year pay.” Or “I don’t like my schedule I’m going to just fly a local over the footprint of all my trips this month.”
