For Indoc a car wasn’t needed for us a few years ago. We were also downtown so idk how they’re running things at the new hotel. IMO transportation is definitely needed at the new hotel they’re using. After Indoc you or your sim partner having wheels will make your life a lot easier. I rented from budget after Indoc but I got a pretty good rate from my past life so it was a minor expense.
Hopefully this is something that’s fixed in the future. New hire, or trainees period shouldn’t have to worry about transportation or where they’re going to stay during CQ, or upgrade if they’re training in their base (no you don’t get hotels during CQ if your training event is in your base). Coming from a regional if you lived outside of 50mi of your base you got a hotel and transportation to/from the training center. If you were inside this radius and had something going on at home that could possibly distract you from doing your best in training you were provided a hotel.
I say all this to say the only thing our trainees should have to worry about is studying and passing. We have a great group of instructors that will make training enjoyable.
