I think it's because most of the junior folks could literally have gone almost anywhere. They were sold a bunch of lies and thought they picked the best job in the industry based on those lies. Most were hired while FDX was printing money and hiring like gangbusters and simultaneously on the precipice of what circumstances and statements dictated would be the best contract in the industry.
The company lied that they intended to hire into the forseeable future, the union was busy bagging up a pile of crap, and meanwhile the places that they turned down or left have outpaced us by miles. Their reaction is not too hard to understand - I think I'd feel the same way in their shoes.
Not a surprising post from you. No one is responsible for their own actions or decisions, it's everybody elses fault. Most of those guys left the legacies that have now out paced us because they were chasing the money that was being made during COVID and thought it would be years before the pax industry recovered. Their guess was wrong.
