I’ve never had them break anything but according to the HR page on non rev benefits they will pay for lost or damaged items same as they will for a regular passenger. No compensation for temporary lost bagge or delivery for delayed bags though.

You can also use Delta cargo to send stuff. I used it for golf clubs once that I didn’t want to drag around. Even had them delivered to my house. I believe we got a 90% discount.
