Which is funny cause we did fully CAT3, ILS Autolands on the 737-200's that Delta had at least. No FMS. No GPS. Basically no guidance except VOR intercepts and heading steers from ATC untlil in range of the ILS receiver.
I remember landing once at BOS during fog in early winter of 2001 and needing a follow-me to get to the gate safely.
I understand that the aircraft are all capable of it already, we just don't have it in our ops spec because the company wanted to save money and use the HGS. I have flown with AT guys, and I am fairly certain they used auto-land.
