At American you'll only get QOL through seniority and seniority only. While UA and DL have made significant improvements to QOL throughout the whole pilot group while honoring seniority during the last contract cycle, APA at American has not. Their philosophy is that seniority us the only thing that matters and unless you have it in your bid group you get none, zilch. Go to UA or DL if you have a choice.
We used to have industry best Reserve rules. Now it is industry worse.

If you're a junior commuting LC pilot, you'll want to get a line as quickly as possible. If you're a medium seniority SC in base? Life is very good. Like just about all things QOL related at an airline, the primary thing that lets you control your QOL is where home is.
