Totally agree. You give SWAPA 1% of your money. Participate. Most guys or gals don't want to be involved in the day to day of running a union. What's nice about this job is you set the parking brake and leave. Go and live life. Unfortunately the rest of our comrades are coming to work to do rinse and repeat. This job attracts A personality people. We question everything. This whole message board helps us with A personality syndrome. Having said that, SWAPA is well funded. I rather have a union that has money in the bank for when the time comes(which will) when management will challenge everything they agreed to. It's just business. Their are some great guys that advocate on our behalf. Every time I see a rep I always thank them for their service. It's a thankless job. Some people get into the leadership of SWAPA for the wrong reasons. Most do it because they want to make a difference in our career's. Most of the time bad actors are called out when they are in it for themselves. For an independent union, SWAPA is better than the alternative. This is my fourth union(three independent and ALPA). The services that we get for our dues, I'll happily pay every time. SWA management is at war with a hedge fund. Employees will most certainly suffer on the other side. Leadership and money are needed to get to the other side of this debacle called SWA.
