I'd have been smarter about what I said over the radio. That being said, assuming I was fit to fly just minutes prior as evidenced by my releasing the parking brake, losing my autothrottles is fairlly benign and assuming the FO agreed, we'd continue to our destination.

There is no easier aircraft to fly with manual throttles than the 757. They add zero fatigue at cruise. I think the crew had a delay before departure but don't know how long. The fatigue call maybe should have been made on the ground. I don't understand the duty pilot getting involved at all. I would have told him to take a hike. Airborne you don't waste time with someone not involved in the flight. It's between the pilot in command and the dispatcher.
