Unfortunately, the "Industry Standard" mindset has taken hold among our union and a significant portion of our pilot group. This mentality often makes them overlook the fact that several aspects of our current conditions (some of which Captainbfv mentioned) are actually better than the so-called "Industry Standard." Let's preserve those and compromise on other items.!
I mostly agree with your comments on "what we want," but it's important to also consider what we can realistically achieve, which will likely fall short of the ideal. And that should be just fine for most of us : )
Hahaha.... I've always been reasonable man, I try my best to not be immediately "hard line" or "pick sides" sort of speak. I allow "the process" take it's course, and for people to do what they gotta do. I give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but I do remain very engaged, and over all informed so I don't get sucked into an echo chamber. I allow individuals to remove all doubt, or show me (in time) if they are going to be reasonable, or more hard line. As I said not very long ago here and elsewhere, out of lets say 20 people that I've spoken to in the past few months, 18 "sound/think" like us sort of speak hahaha. And what's funny, is that with all those I spoke with I never really told them where I stood, or what my actual opinion was. I would just hear them out, ask lots of questions and coverse.
The reason why many don't publicly say what they really think, or anything near to what you and I might say, it's bc they are afraid of being jumped on, or attacked for "rolling" over, or even not falling in line with "unity". My hope is that IF needed, at some point, people speak up.
