The issue for myself and many others is this...how many more six figure paycuts and major catostrophic career events do we have left in us?
While I express my sincerest gratitude toward the companies hiring NK refugees (I really do), the burning question that keeps me awake at night is what is going to be the next big event that holds all of us down for another ten years?
Starting over at a legacy and riding the seniority wave fueled by retirements sounds great on paper, but in reality there is always another monster waiting to rear it's ugly head, like AI as an example. Anyone under 40 (that includes me) is extremely naive if they don't see the dramatic reduction in pilot staffing requirements coming later on in our careers.
AI is going to be everywhere someday in some fashion most likely. The ALPA legacies put two pilot requirements into their contracts and the 737 production is going to slow roll some of it for a fair amount of time.
If someone applies today to a legacy they'll likely have 6-9 months before they're in class. Thats realistically far enough out that Spirit pilots can make some better educated decisions about the future of their company and situation.
