Why would they do it? Staffing isn’t an issue, and even if it was they can just go down the road that they started to explore before the hiring spooled down anyway. Make this place the new regional of choice. Hire CFI’s…get them a fresh 320 or 737 type…and let them bail when they want. Some will grow fond enough of the schedule to stay, but most won’t. Either way, they get to pay the cheapest rates possible and still have a steady pipeline of people to fly the jets.
Of course management doesn’t want to get a deal done. The problem is our union has screwed up these negotiations every step of the way.

We are no where close to being released because the union won’t even do what the mediator says. The union is trying to delay these negotiations so GU can consolidate power. He knows that once these negotiations are done the ALPA drive will start to pickup steam real quick and the IBT will very likely be kicked to the curb.

Now with Trump in the white house we don’t even have the threat of being released. Once he appoints his anti labor republicans to the DOL and NMB we are screwed.
