Serious question. Maybe something other than..."Not my problem". Might as well figure out the answer sooner rather than later because it a legit question that the company will want an answer to a some future point.

the serious answer as pointed out above is to use the PWA tool to cover a flight immediately. A short call pilot is not that tool. If you don’t know what step of coverage this is and you’re still huffing about short call pilots taking too long I would suggest cracking the PWA open.
