Most important one. living in Toulouse, France. Which would be the best base to do this commute? Is it a good base? nice routes?
You would probably want JFK as a base because traditionally most JFK flying goes to Europe. It's also closer so the commute won't be as bad (or expensive.).
Can you choose the airplane you want to fly? (747 would be my choice)
You can put a bid for it - if you didn't get it at first and you decided to stay at Atlas you could switch to it eventually (I think the original seat lock is 24 months.). I'd also look at the 767 as it is going to be used to do passenger flying around Europe too.
I already have a bit of an idea on how roster/bidding system works. How possible/factible is to get more than 15 days off in a row? Meaning I.E: January, fly the first 15 days, last 15 off. February First 15 days off, last 15 days flying
In the beginning if you wanted 15 days off in a row your best bet would be to try to bid back to back for the days off. You could also eventually be able to bid for lines with less days on the road as your seniority grows. Finally - you can also put a trip drop which could get picked up by another crewmember. In the begining you'll probably have 15 to 13 days off in a row.
If not on number 3 (2 sets of 15 days off together) , what’s the minimum days off you could get in a row to commute overseas?
So I live overseas and you can get 13 days off abroad minimum.
After taxes, roughly how much is the new FO salary (first year)?
Your first year you'll be looking at (minimum) - $67,000 a year after taxes - I'd say. Now granted if you want to pick up the trip drops you can earn more but that'll be up to you.
Staff travel with other airlines, for example with Lufthansa and Etihad, is it confirmed or stby only? Business class? Or only economy class?
I dont use it but with Lufthansa we do get standby as with other airlines (not too familiar as I just get the $1250 ticket.). It would be economy class. You do keep the points so eventually you can upgrade yourself (which is what I do.)
Is it true Atlas is getting Airbus 350F?
I dont think so. There's nothing official. I think we are going to keep looking for and acquiring all the -8s first.
By living overseas and trying to get 15 days off in a row (per month) is it easy to get overtime to get bit of higher salary? As your seniority increases you can pick up open time (and the trip drops) that start and/or end in Europe. Since you would already be living in Europe you'll have an edge on this. I live in Asia and pick up open time trips that start and end in Asia. This gives me days off + more money in the bank as I don't need to deadhead from or to the US.
If on my days off I want to go somewhere else apart from home (Toulouse), lets say to Spain or even Salt Lake City, can I request a ticket from the company or I have to cover my own travel expenses?
I think you can be asked to be flown somewhere else. Officially you have to be flown to your gateway airport but right now this hasn't been abused so you can get flown wherever. Just my experience.
If at the end of your duty, before your long sets of days off you, you have a DH to your base, can you request a ticket directly home from the place you’re currently at?
Yes
How often can you change bases?
Every month if you wanted to I believe. The trick is getting the base swaps.
How does the actual vacation work? How many days a year and how often can you take? Minimum days and max in a row?
You get two weeks a year after your first year. You can bid for vacation at multiple times during the year.
Time to get to the left seat?
Right now it's looking like 5-6 years.
Sorry for so many questions, just want to get more info, exploring the options to see what's the best for my commuting.
No problem. Atlas isn't the perfect company but you can live anywhere in the world. As you get seniority you can start picking lines that will benefit your living in France. Right now for example I am bidding lines that start and end with deadheads to the continent I live in. This means more days at home and depending on my lines...its business class to and from work. Not a bad gig at all.
