When you're on SC, you're like an ER techniction.

Your unique skillset is needed right the fudge now abd you're over compensated for it.
It is generational but not in the way you think. Previous generation had short response times and limited complexity for RES in the PWA. The current PWA allows for all types of RES staffing and response timing. The reason we now have VAS in the PWA is for immediate response. Given the large metropolitan areas of our crew bases and the understood definition of "required to be within the general area of his base and promptly available for contact by Crew Scheduling and must be able to promptly report" there are coverage gaps the company wishes to remove at thier discretion, hence VAS. The additional responsivness is compensated and codefied by the latest PWA. There are several generational changes over the years in the PWA, this is only one example. Hourly pay is another, just as you can't be paid 2004 pay rates because the PWA has been superceeded the RES rules and compensation have also improved.
