I think you're right but I think that we might be letting Spirit go thru Chapter 11 and then buy them.
If they furlough/ downgrade, sell some planes and restructure some debt first, I think it makes them a much more attractive purchase. And they might even sit back and see how it goes for a while first. See how they are able to shed or restructure debt, maybe redo some contracts, kind of right the ship. And then we still might swoop in.

I think you're guessing right. More likely, the M&A will be done as part of the BK proceedings, and that's probably necessary to put the max squeeze on the creditors... they're pretty much assured to settle for better terms in court. Or the judge will specify the terms.
