If all the doors are closed, that’s the only trigger that allows me to get an out time. If all the doors are closed, it’s highly likely that everyone is also ready to push except possibly the flight attendants who will be ready momentarily.
I see no need to delay getting them an out time when it’s in my own best interest as well to get the pay clock started for all the work we’ve done getting to that point.
guidance from flight ops is specifically to enable identification of pinch points after door close. they don’t want you to “save” the out time, because it hides other operational issues.
whether you believe that or think it’s just to prevent you from getting paid is left as an exercise to the reader, but it’s been explained in many memos and explicitly in vol1 for quite some time.
