I geet it. My OOBWS pays me more than your GS pay me... Fair enough, as long as it's in the contract, it's legit, and noone should give (too much) grief to any pilot for excercising thier PWA rights.
But I also would like to see some serious curbs/limits on OOBWS.
Many have made the arguments 'why' before. Personally, I have zero issues with a NH who is stuck in thier intitially-assigned base bettering thier schedule, at least until they can AE to the easier-commuting base/where they live. I also don't have any issues with an
occasional good deal for anyone. I do have an issue with those who live in one base, but bid another base for
better seniority/trips/vacation/etc, and
only OOBWS that base they live in. I've flown with a few. If you want to fly primarily out of a particular base,
you should have to bid it, IMO. One way would be to limit the loophole to one OOBWS a month, except NH"s in thier intial assignment. But that will never happen.
