Howdy All,

I’ll be returning to flying after a 3-year military tour (just hitting AD retirement) around the start of peak next year. It looks like we’ve settled on the Dallas area as home for the better part of the next decade. As a Summer 2020 hire, I’m seeking advice on fleet options while living near DFW. I’m digging into the latest bid packs for all fleets but would greatly appreciate insights from those based in this area or who are thoroughly familiar with flying for Brown out of DFW. Your advice and perspective will be invaluable as I plan my next steps.

I began as UPSer on the Bus but don’t have much interest in going back to that—or the 757 domestic—unless the new postal loads created solid trips through DFW. Even then, it’s still a bit of a “meh” for me. From what I’ve seen, the MD seems to come through DFW fairly often, but with those planes being phased out, I’m guessing seniority will take a hit along with the schedules that make the fleet attractive today. I do eventually want to do some time on the 74 and possibly the Z, so I'm guessing my top 3 choices, in no particular order should be MD, Z and 74.

I would probably prioritize whatever allows for quick visits home with the family during turns—or better yet, overnights. That said, I’m also eager to get back to international flying. So, I’d really appreciate a solid breakdown of what flying Browntails in and out of DFW might look like about a year from now.
