"I want to go fly jets!" People might be biting off more than they expect at times. If you're not top notch at your current job, and perform well when things go non-standard or during unusual circumstances, you might not be ready for 4000' FPM climbs below 10,000' at 250 kts. I wish we had a cockpit video of a departure the other night - with in the first four minutes we had a SID, a couple of radar vectors, a re-route to a different departure fix which required FMC work, 3-4 altitude clearances, 3 (?) frequency changes, all below getting to 12,000' (?). 59,000 hrs TT combined banging it out non-stop for several minutes. It's a hoot BUT a handful if you're not ready. It's a HUGE step up from a SEL climbing out at 90 kts and 600 FPM. H.U.G.E.
