I get why the membership voted this down, but I can’t figure out why people are mad about it and calling for recalls.
It wasn’t a totally unreasonable LOA. It would have started a tax sheltered program earlier than otherwise possible in exchange for starting it more conservatively than otherwise (likely) necessary.
I didn’t think the tradeoff was worth it, but it wasn’t a crazy option to propose and let the membership weigh in.
I would have liked a CBP option early but our members voted and that’s that. The interesting thing here is the final product is still very likely to look pretty dam similar to this LOA due to the differences in United/Delta retirement and health plans and the IRS rules about each. It will just happen later now.
Maybe we can piggyback on Delta for the parts that are similar but that’s not really the rub. Optionality and our RHA are totally different from what Delta has and will be what drives the timeline for implementing here.
