Yes you pay a price, but at least the option is there... occasionally life throws curveballs and you might find yourself *needing* the option someday.
Also the fact that some folks like to pick up trips allows the rest of us to get rid of them when desired.
This exactly! I used to be a school teacher making what I did. Lots of extra hours unpaid and no opportunity for any overtime. Drove me nuts! Definitely had to live on a budget!
