Yea the CA number should have an asterisk because a relative newcomer to the state who came in with enough money to buy a nice SoCal house is likely paying double the number they are showing.
i tried to find the methodology but couldn’t. there’s no link to actual data from the tax policy center they claim it’s based on. if they’re just taking home price * tax rate the numbers make zero sense.
