May I ask how many of you were surprised to hear about New Orleans over new Years?

How many of you would be suprised to hear of a stabbing event/violent attack near at our hotel CBS location in

• Des Moines
• Sarasota
• San Antonio
• Calgary
• Kansas City
• Nashville

The response saying attacks like this are rare but do happen in the United States is Pretty Weak Sauce IMO.
It seems as if there is an acknowledgment that there is a hightened risk in select locations, but it is a risk that we should just be comfortable with and that there really isn't a problem.
The incident in New Orleans made GLOBAL news and canceled a College Bowl Game. The incident in Denver maybe made local news.
Again any news producer will tell you "A shooting in ( insert rough part of town here ) isn't really news now is it?", implying it is expected.
