Default 15 Year Contract

PSA Pilots,

I’m posting this cautiously, primarily as a history lesson for myself and potentially for newer pilots at PSA who may not have the background or information needed to make informed career decisions.

After doing some research (and admittedly, I wasn’t fully aware), it seems we are currently operating under a contract that dates back over a decade, supplemented by a lengthy list of LOAs. This came to my attention recently as discussions emerged online regarding the upcoming LOA 16.

I could be mistaken (and I hope I am), but it feels as though critical information about the significance of this LOA is not being fully communicated. Even more concerning is discovering that this contract has been extended further, now beyond 2027.

Having previously served in a union leadership position at another airline, I understand how challenging it can be to handle sensitive information that could impact both the stability of the airline and the careers of its pilots. However, I find it deeply troubling that we are operating under a contract established during the end of the first Obama presidency—a fact that’s hard to believe, yet true.

Could someone with more historical knowledge kindly explain how we arrived at this point? I believe this information would be invaluable for helping pilots determine whether PSA/AA genuinely has our best interests at heart.

Thank you.
