Which is fine, it’s part of the deal. But it’s not volunteer work.
Money for higher education. GI Bill if I wanted another Masters or PHD? Sure. But not free college in all cases.
Not everyone was academy or ROTC.
I finished paying off college in my mid 40s, and I was a reservist in college. GI Bill is better now, but it barely made a dent for many pre 9/11 GI Bill.
