Could go either way. EM has accomplished some amazing things with aerospace & other technologies. He’s much more suited to tech projects than anything involving social dynamics (like Twitter), in my opinion. My gut feeling is he could put down a lot of what he’s currently working on & focus on ATC networks & we’d all be better off.

On the other hand, I get the sense that he also gets bored easily by projects that require a methodical & metered approach- which this certainly does. Part of what makes aviation so safe is that it’s very deliberately structured on established practices that we fine tune as we learn from our mistakes. Slow, boring, highly effective. Tech bros, on the other hand, love words like “radical” & “disruptive”, which are cool ideas but don’t give me the warmest feeling when applied to ATC & flight safety.

We all understand that aviation is extremely safe. The NTSB investigation will provide opportunities to identify present threats & fine tune our methods. I just hope this administration is not planning to throw out a lot of bath water in the name of making things “new”.
