If I remember correctly, most of the DL birds had a lower MTOW than the ETOPS NW birds that we were flying to Hawaii when I was on it. 240,000ish vs 255,000 lbs and could hold almost 60,000 lbs of fuel. I wouldn't be surprised if the higher MTOW models had upwards of an hour of endurance advantage. Especially if you're up at 370 or 390, which was always an option in the second half of the flight even with every seat filled.
copy all thanks for that! I wish airbus had decided to put a bigger wing on the 321/321N because man can it suck getting stuck in the high 20’s because you weren’t heavy to get above anything over 330 on the initial climb.
