Pure speculation at this point, but a solid white visual field with blowing snow on the runway and an indistinct horizon gives very little visual cue of speed and height. It seems like the PF was flying the plane "through" the surface of runway, not unlike how seaplane pilots can fly through the surface of glassy water.
Also, tough to tell flap setting from the video, but maybe less than full? Maybe they used flap 45 speeds with flaps 20?
Anyway, a "hard landing" with a 10 fps sink rate (ie: 600 fpm) should NOT break the wings / gear, so this was likely well in excess of that.
yep-kinda looks like the crash in Diehard 2 where the “controller” changed the sea level by 200’. Flew right through it.
