I did the CLT NYC commute for 20 years. As commutes go you won't find one much easier. I missed 1 trip in 20 years and that was a greenslip they begged me to take at 10am that morning and I put on the tape I probably would not make it. It was snowing in CLT and NYC. In the prime commute time from 10 am to 3 pm there is a flight every 30 minutes more or less to NYC. Another advantage of CLT is ATL and DTW are also reasonable commutes. You never know what you might want to fly. Options are good. I found the ATL commute harder however than NYC. Fewer flights and more competition for jump seats. I had to drive it twice however once was when our MD11 divert closed most of the airport.
