I’ve never understood the wider top button and the two button close. Anyone have examples of double breasted blazers with 2 button close?

I'm with you there, I actually think the original double-breasted jacket is a a good look, though I don't care to DH with it. Then again, I'm not a fashionista like so many of our new pilots seem to be. If uniforms were up to me, it would be slacks, a polo and a NF jacket. Heck, I'd wear hoodies and jeans if they let me. I move planes from A to B, I don't do it any better based on the costume I wear. At the end of the day, they pay me a lot of money to move their jets, so I can pretty much deal all the droopy buttons they want us to wear.
