The other airlines give you nothing on a basic economy fare, SWA is being nice allowing a meager earnings amount.
This move away from egalitarianism is going to improve revenue. It all worked back in the day when the passengers were business people flying SAT-DAL, but post COVID people want and have money to spend on a more premium, segemented expcerience. Our higher fare passengers will be rewarded, while the once a year WGA pax will get nothing and sit in the back, as they would on a legacy airline.
