VOA unbiased? I suppose NPR isn't biased either? If they are such wonderful bastions of free speech then why do they need to be subsidized? Should they not be able to survive on their own?
To your first question, I don't know. I don't have, and never had, a Twitter account.
As to why VOA needs to be subsidized, law. Funded with Congressional approval before it was shut down last weekend. And the target audience are the citizens of nations that don't have access to media beyond state-sponsored media. It can't make it on it's own because it doesn't sell advertising to turn a profit.
