FA as jump seat gatekeeper.
Been commuting for over 6 years now and this was a first. Boarded the jet with all my creds in hand. Greeted the 2 FA's that were in first class. And told them I'd likely be up front.
Checked in with the captain. No issues, welcome aboard.
After a couple minutes of chit chat I turned around and when there was a break asked the FA's that if there was room for my bag could they please let me know.
And then things got weird
One of the FA's asked for my jump seat pass. I told her the captain had it, and again that I would likely be in the cockpit. She insisted that she needed a copy. I told her the gate agent only provides 2 copies, mine and the captains.
To be fair she had a very thick European/Russian accent and it was difficult to understand her so I turned back around and informed the captain what was transpiring. I thought during my 4 days off maybe something had changed and I'd missed the memo.
He laughed and said no, handed me his copy which I then showed her which seemed to make her happy.
I did go into the CPO to inquire if I was missing something here, but no it seems she took it upon herself to be an additional line of defense.
FWIW I was in uniform.
Heads up though as the CPO told me this was not the first report they'd gotten on this anomaly.
