Sunnfun,
My husband is on a trip and since I commandeered his laptop for this Dubai/EK research project, I will have to ask this for him.....If I am understanding you correctly, you can be on furlough, but you have to show proof (via a company letter) that the company has received your resignation? That would make us breathe a little easier because it just doesn't feel like we can predict when things are going to happen but only that they will. When my extended family asks me why we are considering this rather drastic move, I tell them "it is not IF he gets furloughed, but only WHEN."
There is nothing like having gone down this road before to galvanize us into action before the shoe drops. To further cyrstallize things for us, last time, we didn't have two small children we were responsible for and I had a very good paying job to back us up. For us, the kids have changed everything. The problem is, they adore their grand parents and I hate putting that amount of miles between then. Then again, life is all about choices and absolutely no choice comes without a price.
