i don’t know. do you? with how watered down the cfpb became, I doubt it was really that onerous.

Consumer protection is a worthwhile cause but the burden on the country is far greater than just CFPB staff. The bloat created by regulation happens inside the regulated institutions, not just the gov. Regulation can be leveraged by large firms to create barriers to entry for smaller competitors stifling competition in highly regulated industries. Gotta look at all sides of the equation.
so we’re looking for effective regulation that’s unobtrusive? seems like a big ask
