Post Survey: American ATP Mental Health and Safety

Hi All! My name is Owen. I'm a senior at a high school in Minnesota. I'm participating in a research class and am in the process of collecting data for my project. This survey is the final piece to my project, and I'm looking for responses from about 50 pilots holding Airline Transport Pilot Certificates from the FAA in the U.S.

There's more information in the info sheet I've linked, but I'd like to assure you that this survey is benign in its questioning, confidential to the extent possible, and that any questions within the survey are optional.

The survey takes about 5 minutes, and it is all you are expected to do to participate in this study; no follow-ups, no in-person interviews, nothing. This survey could do a lot of good for pilots within the industry who are experiencing stigma or difficulties in accessing mental health care.

I understand the urge among pilots to be skeptical of things like this. I want to assure everyone that I've worked hard to protect the participants in this study. I also want to highlight the features within the survey questions that keep them benign and the separation I've done to keep individually identifying information separate from survey responses.

A sample of the survey is available at: drive.google.com/file/d/1NkRdenWCHAJoYKRIerOcOZhxAjfuaBgx/view, if you would like to check it out before you respond. If you are interested in participating, you can access the info sheet at: drive.google.com/file/d/1yp3jjvXJQmWYEsPuMlOdlQERCQ9rO50I/view.

Thank you for your time, and I hope you will consider taking a moment to fill out the survey.
